Flux Imperative

Happy Friday everyone.  I'm glad it's finally here though I promise I won't have a cliche "Everybody's working for the weekend" moment but yeah, it's kind of like that.  I'm going to deviate from a typical post to report on something a little awkward for me.  This last week or so has been super stressful and not in a typical light-hearted hysterical resolved in 30-minutes-aren't-we-all-glad-we're-friends sitcom kind of way.

Avoidance is not new to me, especially when I know it will mean I have to make some difficult changes.  That said, I finally bit the bullet and went to the doctor this week, where I was promptly prodded and pricked and 12 vials of blood later [not to mention many internal pokings] am nervously waiting on results that will tell me in three little words, YOU ARE OLD.

Change is afoot and though absolutely imperative, it's not an easy transition for me to embrace as I'm notoriously stubborn and rebellious.  Gone are the days of riotous "young" abandon [read living entirely off of alcohol and stimulants and calling into work because I feel like it] and will have to be replaced with something new and God I hope not staid and boring [like vitamin infused smoothies and carrot sticks instead of my beloved ciggies]  Evie says I'm defining things in a rigid way [and maybe just maybe idealizing those hazy years] and should look at it as a new phase in my life. One filled with positive passions [like art and traveling] but also something more long-lasting and rewarding [like a long healthy life].

As usual, she speaks the calm voice of logic and reason and I'm the wild animal scratching the bars in a cage of my own making.  At any rate, who really wants to hear about health issues?  So this where I mention that I shall be chronicling that journey elsewhere in another blog because I'm sure I'm not the only young-ish person ever to have deal with a body's mutiny and two, without a daily public reminder, I will never hold myself accountable for staying on the path of dare I say?  Health and well-being.  Stay tuned.

This mix is brought to you by Change's stepchildren, Rebellion and Relief.  An odd but accurate combination.
