The Charms

Sexy boys, cigarettes, random secrets, forbidden intrigues... these are the charms that sometimes rouse me from my current hibernation.  Lately, it's taking quite the HELLO to make me move, listen and repost.  Third times the charm though, it would seem and MOONSPELL is the ticket.  The band that made me sit up and say, "Oh yes, I need you in my life and where have you been, eh?"

Also I have, we hope kids we hope, finally finished Moon Mix Version 3.  Have you ever made a mix, titled it, created a cover, sent it off.... only to realize it's absolutely shit?!  I have and like a tattoo you can never erase, its existence haunts me and I fucking hate it.

Never mind that nonsense, the final mix... The final?  What a foolish thing to say.  It's a mix about the conversation between a bewildered person Ernest and The Moon entitled Ernest & The Moon Go For A Walk.  An impossibly infinite conversation.   Similar to a book one revisits and through which one  perpetually discovers something new, the Moon Mix is something I expect I will continually... if you could see me now, you would see my hands and fingers molding and stretching an invisible malleable mass.

At any rate, Moonspell is truly phenomenal and sadly didn't make it onto this version. [though you never know... it ain't over until the cd is burnt].

Alone But Not Loney

Two shades of the same color.  Sometimes we all need a little familiar with whom to bounce ideas back and forth.  I really adore it when a lyrical phrase dazzles in two different songs.

Et La Encore

Lately, I only want to hear old favorites.  Aural comfort foods, slathered in the luxury of bygone sounds and swathed in cozy familiar lyrics.

The Sea Dog

The swirls cast their hypnotic spells and what is left, eh?  Silenced tongue, nebulous thoughts as usual.  But then endearingly special ears and a voice that like the sound of the waves, the fluttering sensation of skirt to skin calm the squirrels and tension eases.  This ephemeral place where her words mirror your words, brains mind map and timing is no longer the mechanism that requires you to calculate or manipulate. No.  This is the syncopation of BE.  The most quiet, the most pure space of HERE.

Centered.  Relief.  Buoyancy.  This is love.

Twisted Gardener

I planted them for us and now I smell them everywhere.   I plucked them tonight from unsuspecting neighbors and they fight me with the effort, these ridiculously small blossoms in an even smaller glass.  Do they even comprehend their legacy?

These delicate footsteps, the intoxicating scent that takes me to unmentionable places.  I hate nostalgia.  I hate the scent of these flowers.  I hate that I love them too.  I hate even more that you won't remember, that maybe you don't even care.  These flimsy white petals will wilt in the morning and the realization stabs me to my core.  You are these flowers.  You bloom spectacularly but only in the right conditions.  Bloom profusely, abundant with an overwhelming inviting scent and yet wilt so easily.

I need a place to hide and synth-electroistic-overload is as good a place as any.

Kordan Beloved

Kordan I love thee, let me count the ways.  To say I listen to them at least once a week is no exaggeration.  What can I say?  That's just the way my love is.

Check out this beautiful fan made video by Last Bummer Records/James Reeves.

Dirty Words

Blonde Redhead - The Dress

Belief and Trust - these are dirty words. Don't let them in, don't let anyone in. Especially, if they can betray you in less than two hours. Don't support them, don't assist for months and months and don't in one weak moment share anything personal. Don't.

Purple Tinsel

Today my coworkers sneakily slipped some very electric purple tinsel into my purse without my knowing.  We have a lot of fun.  Witness:  Erasure Singalong Dance Parties.

We all need a little sparkle in our lives.  Erasure was hands down my favorite band as a preteen and I even went so far as to record [on a mixtape no less] a pirate broadcast of them playing Glasgow.  I think we're talking 1992-1993 and I still have this tape people*.  What can I say?  My preteener self is loyal to my boys, along with Tears For Fears, Neil Diamond and oh so much Irish/Scottish folk [NO JOKE],  but those are corny stories for another time.

Erasure - Star ytube

Erasure - Blue Savannah ytube

*Shamefully, I may also have a tape recording of me singing Bryan Adams Waking Up The Neighborhood in its entirety.

Piss is a fun word to say.  So is Hiss.
