Thanks Boss

Six weeks since I hit landfall and moved into my new space, which still feels like a hotel.  Probably because every non-sleeping moment has been spent out of it.  Wild nights (happy birthday me), wild work days.  A return to the Land of Bachelorettes.  Neither fish, fowl, nor red pickled herring anymore it would seem.  Within those rare quiet moments, some strange thoughts, half remembered moments are bubbling up from forgotten trenches.   Moments spent with a history of ex-lovers and all tied to music.  A work in progress playlist.

Songs that when listened to transport you back to that time, to that place.  There are certain songs that will always be related to a person and the time you shared together.  Like a smell for some, music is my road to memory and it's a lot harder than I thought it would be.  Not because of Sadness or even its dreadfully soppy cousin, Nostalgia but because how do you encapsulate a moment?  How do you just pick 3 songs?  Is it even healthy?  Neither here nor there but it keeps the other existential midges at bay.  For the moment.

Rob:  I want more, I wanna see the others on the big top-five.  I want to see Penny and Charlie and Sarah, all of them.  You know?  Just see 'em and talk to 'em.  You know, like a Bruce Springsteen song.
Bruce: You call, you ask them how they are and see if they've forgiven you.
Rob:  Yeah, and then I feel good.  And they feel good.
Bruce:  They'd feel good, maybe.  But you'd feel better.
Rob.  I'd feel clean.  And calm.
Bruce:  That's what you're looking for, you know, when you wanna get ready to start again.  It'd be good for you.
Rob:  Great, even.
Bruce:  Give that big final good luck and goodbye to your all time top-five and just move on down the road.
Rob:  Good luck, Goodbye.  Thanks, Boss

Love Amok

Thom Yorke's awkward fitful dancing duet for Atoms for Peace's track, Ingenue.. I just can't even right now, I love it so much.  Almost as much as David Byrne's beautiful jangly dance moves in This Must Be The Place.

(Incidentally, one of my favorite songs of all time.  But then again, you already knew that didn't you?  Talking Heads/David Byrne honorable mentions herehere, here, here, here.)

Rain Fog

Heaven to me is not dancing around in freezing rain but these babes make it look delightful... and nippletastic.  Happy Sunday lovely you.
