Ooh, it's been so long since I last heard this record – far too long in fact. A damn fine record it is too, with the obvious caveat of intrigue re: the one you wish you could...

Catherine Wheel is a longstanding lover to be sure and not to worry dear LGM hopefully soon your curiosity will be satiated. It's always hard to read a review about an album you've called your own for some time, especially when the author only recently discovered it. Call it a nerd alert [or snob fest] - it's kind of like when someone talks about a family member they've just met. Sure, they may say nice things or even interesting things but can they ever really know?! That said, it's a decent article and thanks for sending it my way.

Aye, you're spot on (of course). Should some fresh-faced interloping herbert arrive on the scene to root and rave for either of my two favourite albums – you know, the ones I'd fall defending their name – they'd be growling, I tell you. Maybe even a campaign of civil disobedience (if I were drunk enough).

Unfortunately my favourite album isn't by the National. Hmm.

Ha! Fresh-faced interloping herbert - fantastic phrase. So we understand each other then and by the by The Boxer isn't my favorite album either, but like that cranky grand-aunt you only have to see once a year at some celebratory awkward family gathering, she's still family. x
