Fire Mountains

I've started working on a holiday mix.  I'm not too far along yet, rather I have way too many options and must now begin the arduous pare down.  Here's a small peek.  Just small one, though, the rest is a surprise.

What kind of comedy is this?
All of the danger you've discovered
What kind of comedy is this?
How can you say now you're frightened

You labeled me in fortry tries and in case you didn't realize
I was a landscape in your dream and all my mountains were on fire.

What kind of labyrinth is this that we're constructing through talking?
What kind of labyrinth is this that sends you laughing without smiling?
Age brings a sad little surprise
And in case you didn't realize
While you were calculating tears
My head expired

Queries

Some of you asked these questions a long time ago, so I'm really sorry that I'm only just now getting around to answering them.

Would you rather be a zombie or a mummy?
Would I rather eat brains or have leprosy? I think I choose the skin condition.

What bands are you listening to right now?
Lots of dreamy things, like School of Seven Bells, Grizzly Bear and I'm really enjoying Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti's latest Before Today.

Are you on Facebook?
I was on Facebook, but I recently deactivated my account. [You can read about why here.]

Best hangover food?
Mmmmm hashbrowns with tomatoes and cheese or banh mi.  Also coconut juice and watermelon. I also really really like those 64oz lemonades from corner stores [but I've never been attacked before].

Have you ever been in love?
Yes. It is the most lovely rollercoaster. First you don't eat and there's a big bright shining light within and out of you, and everything is shaped and colored by your love. Then you both establish your level of in-loved-ness, which kind of looks like a flat line, with intervals of spiked peaks and valleys. Then the process of falling out of love is just as exciting, except it's the opposite direction, a straight decline. One wild ride.

What is the picture on your profile page?
If you're referring to the painting of the woman and the octopus on formspring, it's by amazing artist Monica Cook entitled Untitled [Self Portrait] 2008. If you mean the title picture on my blog with the pig and the woman, that is also by an amazing artist Charlie Isoe and it's called Will Be Home Late - Leave The Light On.

What is your best kiss ever?
I'm lucky to be able to answer that I've had quite a few that would have that distinction. Maybe one day I'll share them all but today, you get to hear about Geordie. He was 6 and I was 4. He had this amazing grey blue bomber jacket and I had this awesome white knitted jacket covered in red hearts. He used to come out of the bathroom, take one look at me, and pop the collar.  I think he thought he was the Fonz or something. We would sit in the corner of the classroom and cover our faces with our jackets and play pretend kiss, by which I mean we would give each other quick successions of peck kisses. Until one day he upped the ante and touched his tongue to mine. I was hooked.

If you could live in any city, where you would you live?
This question boggles my mind, I want to live so so many places. I want to climb mountains like Heidi and stay in a Swiss chateau, the really old ones that look like cuckoo clocks [or is it the other way around?] An old Parisian apartment complete with the cornices and a beautiful, non functional fireplace. Northwest US, Spain, and island in Greece, maybe Ibiza. We haven't even talked about the southern hemisphere. There's too many places worth seeing.

 Curious?
Ask me anything.

Cute Kitsch

The sun is struggling to come out at the exact same time I'm watching this. Levek covers Grizzly Bear [acapella]. I thought the footage was from Bambi, turns out it's from a 1948 series called, Melody Time and this episode is called Trees. The animation is lovely!

Shards of Love

Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks (official music video)

So popular and catchy but I don't care because this song makes me want to dissect my heart, smash it into a thousand tiny little pieces and then rub my face in the shards, I love it that much.

Check out this cutesy fan video - complete with bunnies and a dark ages knight.
